RIVERS ALLIANCE WELCOMES NEW DIRECTORS

RIVERS ALLIANCE WELCOMES NEW DIRECTORS
William H. Anthony & Eileen Fielding

Mr. Anthony is an avid kayaker and boating enthusiast, and comes to the board with a focus on the new Water Trails Program.  He serves on the board of Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust and The Friends of Outer Island (Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge).  Mr. Anthony has a degree in English from the College of William & Mary, and was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army.  He was the founder of William Anthony Construction in Woodbury, and served as its President until 2007. He has served on the Bethlehem Conservation and Inlands Wetlands Commission as chairman, and the Andover, MA, Conservation Commission as chairman of the Stewardship Committee.  With his expert experience in boating, he will bring a new perspective to Rivers Alliance.

Eileen Fielding, Executive Director of the Farmington River Watershed Association, has joined the board of Rivers Alliance.  Though Ms. Fielding hails from Massachusetts, much of her career has been with Connecticut nonprofits, including Connecticut Audubon, where she was statewide director of education; the New London County Soil and Water Conservation District; the Science Center of Eastern Connecticut; and the Children’s Museum of Hartford.  In addition to her extensive experience in environmental nonprofits, she has an academic background that includes a doctorate in ecology for research on the niche preferences of freshwater fishes.  She has taught at several colleges and universities, including UConn, Wesleyan, Trinity, St. Joseph College, and the University of Chicago. We are all delighted to welcome both Mr. Anthony and Ms. Fielding aboard.
