Rivers Alliance of Connecticut is
the only statewide nonprofit dedicated to protecting and enhancing Connecticut’s rivers, streams, and watersheds. We promote and support environmentally
sound state policies, assist the state’s many watershed and river groups, and
educate the public about the importance of water conservation and aquatic
habitats. We are a membership-based nonprofit corporation founded in
1992.
The Spring Connecticut Watershed Network
Conference 2012 was Friday, May 11, 2012, 9-2 pm, at Northeast
Utilities, Berlin. Topics included
watershed management plans, protection of state conserved lands, legislative
summaries, hot spots, environmental advocacy in a down economy, more. Agenda is

Rivers Alliance Names Environmental Champions
of 2011
ACTION ALERT: PENDING PESTICIDE PERMIT
STREAMFLOW REGULATIONS ENACTED INTO LAW!
This text was written as part of
grant from the Geoffrey C. Hughes Foundation for education on alternate
sewage treatment systems (ATS). These controversial systems typically allow
for onsite treatment of sewage on properties too small for a traditional
septic system.
NOMINATE AN AQUARION ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPION
The annual
environmental awards by Aquarion Water Company honor volunteer projects that
protect Connecticut natural resources. A champion may be an adult, student,
business, or nonprofit organization that has worked on such a project. Aquarion
will provide $2,500 to a nonprofit environmental organization of each winner’s
choice. Student champions will each receive a $1,000 savings bond. Deadline is
